How I can help

To begin with – for book authors:

I can complete a sample edit of your book's introduction and one other chapter, a total 40 pages maximum, so you can decide if you would like to hire me to edit your book.

If you decide that I am the right editor for you, then I can:

  • copyedit the manuscript for grammar, spelling, and punctuation and for clarity and consistency;

  • check chapter titles against the table of contents along with chapter subheads included in the table of contents;

  • check that any illustrations and tables are labelled correctly;

  • highlight any inconsistencies or repetition and suggest ways to improve the text.

  • All this is done using track changes in Word

I will make note of all the decisions I make on spelling, especially of technical terms, and use of punctuation in a style sheet that I will provide to you with your edited book.

Your final package will then include:

  • professionally edited book

  • style sheet

  • suggestions on how the text might be improved, if necessary.

for Other writers – and others producing written materials – i can:

  • edit your written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation and clarity, following the style guide of your choice;

  • highlight any inconsistencies or repetition and suggest remedies for these;

  • make sure that spelling is consistent throughout (for words such as organize/organise, for example);

  • edit for jargon-free, plain English, suitable for a broad audience.
